The day you were born. I remember it so well Would you be a "special"? Only time would tell. You focused on a plan, from which you never withdrew. You knew you would be special, yes indeed you knew
You stood so proud, head high, you were all set to go Tears of pride in my eyes every time I watched you show You always stopped to make new friends on the way to the ring Quite the social butterfly, my beautiful little "Ms. Thing"
They knew of you from coast to coast, you were so well known
There will never be another "Journey". you make that name your own. You had many great wins and accomplishments all along the way, But the best being the love you gave to everyone each and every day
With grit and determination you battled cancer in this last year, You wanted to show and strut your stuff, you made that crystal clear. The last day that you showed, the tears streamed down my face You moved like you were two again, you won with dignity and grace.
And then came that fateful day when I had to let you go I didn't want to do it, that was selfish of me. I know You gave me a long look, and walked to the front door You were so brave, you were the best, I couldn't ask for more.
As I cradled your head in my hands, I tried with all my might To be strong for you, not to cry, to say good bye that night. You licked my face and wagged your tail, strong to the end You were my dog, my companion, you were my best friend.
It was extremely hard Journey, when I had to let you go You are always and forever in my heart, that you know I was so very honored to be a part of your life. The pain of losing you so deep, it cut like a knife.
If I could wish one thing in life, I think it would to be That everyone would be blessed with their own "Journey" That they would know the love of a beautiful dog like you And have so many memories to help carry them through.
